Pastyx vs Raycast Clipboard History
Raycast is a launcher, and Clipboard History is one of many built-in features, free for personal use. If you already use Raycast, its clipboard history is thorough. Pastyx does only the clipboard; the difference is mainly sync between devices and the way it looks.
Stay with Raycast if
- Raycast is already your launcher and you don’t want another app.
- You want clipboard history that never leaves the computer and is encrypted on disk.
- Keeping history for up to 3 months on the free plan is enough for you.
Pastyx may suit you better if
- You want clipboard history synced between devices (Raycast’s Cloud Sync does not sync Clipboard History).
- You want a dedicated clipboard shelf rather than a command inside a launcher.
- You want your history in a browser, or to share a clip with a link.

Moving from Raycast to Pastyx
- Install Pastyx (7-day trial on Mac and Windows). It starts recording what you copy from the moment it is installed. The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a warning; choose More info › Run anyway.
- There is no need to remove Raycast; keep it as your launcher. Pastyx can’t import Raycast’s clipboard history: its database is encrypted on disk.
- Copy your pinned Raycast entries once more; Pastyx records each copy. Then favorite them or put them on a pinboard.
- If you don’t want both recording, turn Clipboard History off with the toggle at the top right of its page in Raycast Settings.
- Sign in from Pastyx Settings if you want the history on several devices; without it the history stays on this computer.
Questions
I already use Raycast. Do I need Pastyx?
Not if you work on one computer and three months of history is enough. Pastyx makes sense when you want clipboard history synced between devices, want it in a browser, or prefer a separate card-based shelf.
Does Raycast sync clipboard history between devices?
No. Raycast’s Cloud Sync manual lists Clipboard History among the data that always stays on the device. Pastyx syncs through its own server after sign-in (over HTTPS).
Which one protects the data more?
Raycast: its clipboard history stays on the device and is encrypted on disk. Pastyx keeps local history in a regular SQLite database, and with sync on the data passes through Pastyx’s server.
How do the prices compare?
Raycast is free for personal use, Clipboard History included; keeping history longer than 3 months needs Pro (US$10 / month or US$96 / year). Pastyx is US$9.99 once for Mac and Windows.
